Learn To Read Russian

Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start!

Below you will find a play list with my videos that I use in my classroom to teach students the alphabet. I start with the most familiar letters so you can gain some momentum for your confidence.

Use the PDF to follow along. It includes additional reading practice. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to write everything out (I’m a believer in the old school pencil and paper way of learning)

Read Practice Texts and their translations

Now let’s have a little fun! Here are some of my favorite videos for the alphabet.

Unlike English, Russian doesn’t have an alphabet song that everyone knows. This is the closest thing I’ve found. My favorite part is the “oooooo”

A beautiful video shown at the Opening Ceremonies of 2014 Sochi Olympics with famous Russian people, places and things.
